TUBESCA-COMABI is renewing its ISO 9001 certification and obtaining the ISO 14001 certificate

Tubesca-Comabi, the French leader in the manufacture and marketing of solutions for accessing and working at height, has just been officially awarded two new international certificates of conformity to ISO standards.

Following an audit carried out in December 2021 by TUV Rheinland, the company has renewed its ISO 9001 quality management system certification, which reinforces the approach to which Tubesca-Comabi has been strongly committed for more than 20 years, and has obtained the ISO 14001 certificate for the very first time for its industrial site located in Ailly-sur-Noye (80).

Quality Safety Environment at the heart of Tubesca-Comabi’s management strategy

Tubesca-Comabi’s Quality, Health, Safety & Environment protocol aligns with the frameworks of the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, and is supported by the continuous improvement of the company’s processes. The aim is to guarantee high-quality products and services, and to work with employees to develop a citizen-focused and responsible working environment.
Its action plan is based on 5 major pillars, such as the quality perceived by customers, performance and operational excellence, business growth, corporate social responsibility and human capital development.
Tubesca-Comabi has been ISO 9001 certified for more than 20 years. Above all, this standard governs Quality Management in a broad sense, as it aims to index all company processes to create added value (product or service). This way, the company’s documents follow a production chain and enable the delivery of compliant products and capitalisation of the company’s expertise, all whilst ensuring traceability. As for safety, Tubesca-Comabi proves its approach through the production of and compliance with a single document on all its production sites. This assesses the professional risks within the company and takes into account the health and safety of its employees.
Obtaining the ISO 9001 standard demonstrates the conformity and effectiveness of the customer management system in meeting legal and regulatory requirements. It also attests the motivation and involvement of management and staff to pursue a process of continuous improvement, efficiency and optimisation in all projects.

A strong commitment to environmental management

At the same time, Tubesca-Comabi integrated sustainable development issues into its management system, which enabled it to obtain the ISO 14001 certification for the Ailly- sur-Noye site (80).
This standard is based on a regulatory part, especially for waste treatment. The aim is to reduce the impact of the company’s activities on the environment, particularly by reducing GHG emissions, fighting against soil pollution, reducing energy and water consumption, and reducing the volume of toxic waste.

As part of this certification, Tubesca-Comabi has started a vast programme to change the lighting in the workshops and offices to LEDs, in order to reduce the impact of energy consumption, to replace forklift trucks by electric ones and to sort and recycle some waste.
In terms of the products, Tubesca-Comabi has reduced the packaging of its products and eliminated sub-assemblies. By way of example, the packaging of the TOTEM BOX 180 5 M floor scaffold was reduced by 7 tonnes of plastic, 125 kg of paper and 750 kg of cardboard, and the aluminium crimped scaffold range was reduced by 9 tonnes of plastic.

This certification is a reward for the continuous efforts that have been made with regard to the consumption of natural resources and the reduction of waste, and marks the first stage of an environmental action plan that the company has been implementing for several years.
For 2023, Tubesca-Comabi has set itself the ambition of obtaining the ISO 14001 certification for all its industrial sites, and is aiming for the ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 triple certification.

Tubesca-Comabi is now part of a social and environmental responsibility policy as it commits to a more formalised CSR approach.
This protocol groups together all of the company’s practices, which aim to comply with the principles of sustainable development, that are namely economically viable and that have a positive impact on both society and the environment. This commitment was recognised and rewarded in 2021 with a silver medal, awarded by the international certification body EcoVadis.

We are currently moving towards a new stage and we plan to reduce our energy consumption at all our sites, and to initiate a carbon footprint measuring system in order to work on reducing it and an eco-design programme for our products (recyclability, reparability of products, reduction of packaging)”
